These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Westcoast Sitters website and services (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By booking childcare services or using our website, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Our Services

Westcoast Sitters provides childcare and babysitting services, including in-home babysitting and related care services, as described on our website or booking pages.

Specific services, rates, schedules, and availability are confirmed at the time of booking.

2. Eligibility & Client Responsibilities

  • Clients must be at least 18 years old
  • You confirm that you are the legal parent or authorized guardian of the child(ren)
  • You agree to provide accurate and complete information about:
    • Your child(ren)’s age, routines, allergies, medical needs, and behavioural considerations
    • Emergency contacts
    • Household rules and expectations
    • Home access details

Failure to disclose relevant information may result in cancellation or termination of services.

3. Bookings & Payments

  • Bookings are requested through our website or approved booking channels
  • Payment is required in advance to confirm a booking
  • Payments are processed via Square
  • All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are subject to change
  • Applicable taxes may be added where required

Bookings are not confirmed until payment is received.

4. Cancellations, Rescheduling & Refunds

  • Cancellations require 24 hours’ notice before the scheduled service.
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours are subject to a 4-hour cancellations fee, which will be charged automatically to your credit card.
  • Late cancellations or no-shows may be non-refundable
  • Refunds are offered/offered at our discretion – Booking Fees are non-Refundable. Placement Fees are non-refundable.
  • Rescheduling requests are subject to availability and notice requirements

We reserve the right to make exceptions for emergencies or circumstances beyond reasonable control, at our discretion.

5. In-Home Safety & Environment

For in-home services, you agree to:

  • Provide a reasonably safe, clean, and secure environment
  • Inform us of any hazards, pets, or special considerations in the home
  • Ensure sitters have clear instructions for emergencies

Westcoast Sitters reserves the right to refuse or end services if conditions are unsafe for the sitter or child(ren).

6. Childcare Scope & Medical Situations

  • Westcoast Sitters provides non-medical childcare only
  • Sitters do not administer medication unless explicitly agreed to in writing
  • In the event of illness, injury, or emergency:
    • We will attempt to contact the parent/guardian and emergency contacts
    • If necessary, emergency services may be contacted

Any medical or emergency-related costs remain the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

7. Client Conduct & Service Boundaries

We expect respectful and appropriate communication at all times.

We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services if:

  • Conditions are unsafe or unsuitable
  • Information provided is misleading or incomplete
  • Behaviour toward sitters or staff is abusive, inappropriate, or threatening

8. Sitters & Subcontractors

Westcoast Sitters may assign sitters who are independent contractors. All sitters are expected to meet our internal screening, training, and care standards.

9. Photos & Updates

With parental consent, sitters may provide written updates or photos during services for client communication purposes. Marketing use will only occur with explicit consent.

You may opt out at any time by notifying us in writing.

10. Intellectual Property

All website content, branding, and materials are the property of Westcoast Sitters and may not be reused without permission.

11. Limitation of Liability

Services are provided “as is” and “as available.”

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Westcoast Sitters is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Westcoast Sitters harmless from claims, losses, or damages arising from:

  • Inaccurate or incomplete information provided by the client
  • Unsafe home conditions
  • Breach of these Terms

14. Third-Party Services

We use third-party platforms, including Square, for payments and scheduling. We are not responsible for third-party services or their terms.

15. Termination of Services

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate services if these Terms are violated. Outstanding balances remain payable.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
